What is a mini facelift?
The mini face lift is an ideal solution for people who find that their skin starts to become less elastic and sag at a relatively young age – the process is much less invasive than a full facelift, with a subtler result, but it creates a firmer, more defined face with a more youthful appearance. Often clients chose to combine a mini facelift with a mini-liposuction procedure to the jawline area to compliment the effect.
Why choose a mini face lift?
The advantage of a mini face lift – along with the subtle, more natural look the treatment gives you, is that the procedure is minimally invasive, leading to a much easier and faster recovery time, than a full surgical facelift. It is also much more affordable.
MACS-lift is the abbreviation for Minimal Access Cranial Suspension lift. It is also called Quick lift because it takes less time to perform than classic facelift and can be done in an office or outpatient setting under local anaesthesia. Other names for MACS-lift are S-Lift (Soft-Lift) or Short Scar Facelift. In this procedure, under local anaesthetic an incision is made along the hairline and the front of the earlobe. Surgical barbed sutures are placed under the skin, pulling the sagging area upwards, with the tiny barbs on the sutures preventing the underlying tissue from slipping back. Scar tissue will form in time around the sutures, which will contract and pull the skin even tighter over time. The procedure takes around 2 hours, and stitches are used to close the incisions at the end, with any excess skin removed. It is ideal procedure for mid and lower face lift if you do not want an extensive procedure.
What can MACS-lift achieve for you?
MACS-lift is an anti-gravity lift, that is lifts the sagging skin and underlying tissue upwards. This vertical lifting results in the following:
- Correction of chin and upper neck sagging
- Improvement of the neck chin angle
- Restoring a well-defined jawline due to jowl correction
- Improvement of naso-labial (nose-to-mouth) folds
- Volume improvement in a hollow mid-face
The advantages of MACS-lift are the subtle results that make you look like you without the windswept look of classic facelift, quicker recovery, shorter operation time and can be done under local anaesthetic.
Am I suitable for MACS-lift?
The ideal candidate for a MACS-lift is usually 45-50 year old whose main worry is moderate sagging of the chin with early jowls and drool lines.
The MACS-lift is not a treatment for droopy brows or excessive saggy neck.
Combining with other procedures
Whilst a MACS-lift on its own will address early ageing in most people, it may not address all concerns in some, nor achieve the desired result, so additional procedures may need to be carried out. For example, any volume loss in the face can be corrected with fat transfer or deep skin fillers. Most clients having a mini-lift also choose to have jowl and chin liposuction to improve the appearance of a double chin and enhance the jawline. The improved effect of MACS-lift on lower and mid-face can be complemented with blepharoplasty and botox brow lift for the upper face.
Can I have other treatments in the future?
Yes. Having a facelift will not stop you from receiving other aesthetic treatments. In actual fact, additional procedures tend to complement your new look and make the effects of the lift last longer.
What does a mini-facelift cost?
The price of a mini-facelift is between £3500 and £5000.
